Construction

The harp is triangular in shape, approximately 1,8 meters tall and weighs almost 36 kilos. The base of the harp supports the column, the body and the soundboard of the instrument, while the upper portion is spanned by the neck, which contains the tuning mechanism.[Chaloupka1979]

On the base of the harp there are seven pedals. The pedals are attached to the tuning mechanism by means of connecting rods inside the column. The tuning mechanism is connected to discs on the outside of the neck, which turn to modify the pitch of the string.[Chaloupka1979]

The strings of the harp are wound on tuning pins and held in place by bridge pins.
